5 Classic Rock Artists The Grammys Have Snubbed

Many musician consider winning a Grammy to be the highest praise you can get publicly.

And for good reason — if enough people love your music that you earn enough votes to win a Grammy, that means your music has the X factor. However, it’s a shock that some of the best classic rock artists have not won a single Grammy Award.

Here are just five classic rockers whom the Grammys have snubbed.

Jimi Hendrix

Let’s all just admit it — Hendrix is the best and most innovative guitarist that ever lived. He’s in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, so why did he never win a Grammy?

I don’t have the answer to that question. But somehow, albums like Are you experienced and Electric Ladyland never won. I should mention though that Hendrix won the lifetime achievement award in 1992 from the Grammys.

Janis Joplin

Joplin, along with Hendrix, is a member of the 27 Club. And she, too, never took home a Grammy. Granted, he fame grew after she died, but she still put out some hit songs, like “Piece of my heart” and “Me and Bobby McGee.”

She, like Hendrix, received an award posthumously — a Grammy Hall of Fame award in 2002.

Guns N’ Roses

Guns N’ Roses was one of the biggest rock bands in the 80s and 90s and has become what you’d call an iconic group. Even though they had the highest selling debut album in history, Appetite For Destruction, the Grammys overlooked them. That album never even got a nomination.

Then finally, in the early 90s, the band earned three Grammy nominations.

Journey got into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year, but (you guessed it) they haven’t won a Grammy. Despite their whopping 18 top 40 singles, not one of those got them a Grammy.

In 1997, they got a nomination for “Best Pop performance by a duo or group with vocal,” but alas, didn’t win it.

Led Zeppelin

Yes, the Led Zeppelin — the band who made one of the most iconic rock songs ever — has not won a Grammy. Second only to The Beatles, Led Zeppelin is one of the most famous bands globally.

Despite hit after hit and solid album after solid album, they have no Grammy Award or even a nomination. However, they did earn a spot in the Grammy Hall of Fame (four times over) for their recordings. Plus, they got a lifetime achievement award from the Grammys in 2005.
